Production Manager Position

Pay Range:

  • $70,000 - $80,000

Job Summary:

The Production Manager oversees the daily operations of the electrical panel manufacturing team to deliver defect-free products on time. This role ensures labor is skilled, equipped, and compliant with quality and safety standards. The supervisor drives continuous improvement and collaborates across departments to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost efficiency.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Production Operations:

    • Manage daily production and enforce job expectations, policies, and procedures.
    • Deliver according to demand schedules and priorities as determined by operations management.
    • Schedule labor efficiently based on skillsets and project timelines.
    • Monitor workflow, address process issues, and collaborate on materials availability.
    • Ensure quality standards, equipment functionality, and 6S workplace standards.
    • Support ISO 9001:2015 and maintain a safe work environment.
    • Record and escalate safety issues and performance variances.

    Team Leadership:

    • Lead staff of 30–40 direct reports that may include production workers, team leads, and production supervisors; coach and evaluate performance.
    • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
    • Handle recruiting, onboarding, performance reviews, and personnel issues.
    • Document and address performance concerns in collaboration with HR and management.
    • Facilitate idea-sharing and implement team-driven improvements.

    Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    • Work with sales, engineering, operations, and finance to resolve issues and reduce waste.
    • Implement systems to track performance, reduce costs, and ensure productivity.
    • Remain agile and adaptable to business needs.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Supervisory:
    • Commands respect of employees

    • Ability to delegate as required to maintain a high work output 
    • Outstanding organizational skills with a high attention to details.
    • Leads efficiency 
    • Ability to multi-task and effectively track project deliverables.
  • Technical:
    • Ability to read blueprints, technical documents, and manuals
    • Analytical skills – problem solving, failure analysis, DMAIC
    • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Products 
    • Proficient understanding of mechanical mathematics 
    • Knowledge of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory, and stewardship processes in a manufacturing environment 
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Qualifications:
    • Ten (10) years of experience in a manufacturing environment for electrical/mechanical products sold to businesses (not consumers)
    • Five (5) years of experience directly supervising a team
    • High school diploma required, college degree preferred
    • Experience and demonstrable comprehension of electrical control panels technical documentation and manufacturing

Working Environment:

 Production floor exposure: noise, temperature changes, moving parts. Requires lifting (up to 40 lbs.), climbing, and extended standing 

 

Measure of Success:

  • Time tracking, labor variance (estimated vs. actual), ERP reporting, productivity.
  • Defect rates per builder, scrap/rework, on-time delivery, build time, and 360° reviews.

Confidentiality:

Access to sensitive company information requires strict confidentiality.

Management Scope:

Oversees panel builders. Collaborates with planning, quality, engineering, IT, and management in a non-union environment.
