Rochester, N.Y.’s, Marc Iacona, president and CEO of Simcona Electronics Corp., has earned a spot on the 2023 Rochester Business Journal’s Power 100 list.
Marc, a longtime figure in Western New York, has served in Simcona’s top position for 12 years. He’s also a key force in the community, helping grow the success of the Rochester International Jazz Festival.
Rochester’s business and community growth are equally important to Marc.
“Humans will always desire progress,” he says. “In Rochester, there will always be a dialogue for addressing our challenges of education, mental health, poverty, and economic vitality.”

Marc Iacona’s Impact on Rochester, NY
Marc has earned this Rochester Business Journal distinction several times, most recently being the 2021 RBJ Power 100. Throughout that period, his trademark has been leading through unprecedented times.
At Simcona
Starting in March 2020, the COVID-19 crisis disrupted supply chains and the availability of production materials for customers – and Simcona itself. As the electronic component shortage stretches well into 2023, Marc continues to address the residual effects on his own workforce:
- Engaging work culture
- Recruitment, training, and retention
- Company growth
Externally, Simcona continues to grow impressive distributor and customer networks, helping buyers through a variety of supply chain obstacles:
- Electrical and mechanical component sourcing
- Wire & cable distribution
- Industrial control panel engineering & assembly
Marc attributes some of his success to Simcona’s core tenet of favoring genuine partnerships with customers rather than transactional relationships.
“Pursue a vocation that makes you feel fulfilled and relevant,” he advises. “(Be) authentic and honest.”
With the RIJF
Marc is also producer and executive director of the annual CGI Rochester International Jazz Festival. RIJF started in 2002 with an attendance of 15,000. It’s since grown from a small, local event to one that draws 250,000+ patrons yearly. Today, the festival involves:
- 9 days
- Nearly 1,800 artists from around the world
- 320+ shows
- 20 venues
The economic impact of the festival is approaching $200 million.
An avid trumpeter himself, Marc continues to dedicate himself to building upon Rochester’s creative arts foundation and strengthening its economy.
